The Art & History Museums Maitland staff and grounds are all safe and sound, after Irma. We’re set for an air conditioned Sunday. 🙂 Hope everyone weathered the storm OK.
Our meeting will be September 17th.
Same time, 1:30. (Bring your best hurricane stories.)
There may be tree pruning in some Packwood parking spaces. A rental attendant will be outdoors assisting guests to find parking. There is parking in the lot next to the Germaine Marvel Building, the business lot across the street and along Central Avenue, to the right of the Chapel and Mayan Courtyard. Also and unpaved lot behind our Main Garden.
We are working with the Downtown Arts District and their Art Director Brad Biggs to have a show at the Bloomingdale’s, at the Mall at Millenia. Here is what we have so far.
Ken and Rebecca will curate the show. Send a good, clear jpg. of your painting, or print, to Ken Austin at: firstname.lastname@example.org In the subject line put BLOOMINGDALE’SShow. In the body of the email provide your name, email, the title of the work and approximate dimensionswith frame by May 5th.
Entry is limited to 2 paintings/prints by each artist.
Show is limited to about 30 paintings/prints total, depending on how many full sheets we get. I am using my photos, as general reference for the wall space.
Larger pieces will be preferred, due to the large walls areas. Giclee/prints are also acceptable.
-No nudes, politics or any other controversial subjects.-
ALL paintings/prints MUST be for sale and hang for the duration of the show unless taken down by the curator. There is a 30% commission.
Artists who are selected must provide name, email, the title of the work and dimensions by July 1st to Brad Biggs, so he can do the labels.
ALL sales are handled by Downtown Arts District. (They send checks a couple of weeks after the sale.)
Artwork must be dropped off at Mall at Millenia on Thursday, July 6th (tentative). Enter the back entrance of Bloomingdales and go up to the 3rd floor where the furniture department is.
Reception date might be July 11th or August 14th, depending on Bloomingdale’s schedule. So, hold these dates as a bookmark.
Watercolor framing and hanging standards apply. Mats should be clean and white or off white. Plexiglas. Wire hangeron back is a must. Proper backing. Wrapped watercolor canvas may be unframed. The curator has the right to refuse any artwork that does not adhere to the standards.
Paperwork and release forms to be determined. Further information will be updated and posted.
