The CFWS members were treated to a fun and festive holiday meeting that included a beautiful painting done by Kim Johnson Nechtman and a surprise visit from Santa!!

Santa sends Merry Christmas greetings! HO! HO! HO!

Santa has one of his elves and reindeer too!

Mr. and Mrs. Claus watch Kim as she demonstrates her uniques splash painting style!

Kim Went over some of her art supplies such as the Silver Black Velvet series of brushes. She has no preference on hot or cold press paper, but does like #300lb. Fabriano Aristico. Winsor Newton watercolors, especially the burnt sienna are her faves! Her little Shysart winged watercolor palette is another favorite. She likes to use a B&W photo as a value reference and starts with the drawing and saves white highlights with Pebeo masking fluid.   To start, she mists the surface, then uses a large brush to spatter the paints. She paints at an angle to help the paint flow and mix. After removing the masking, beautiful glowing highlights are revealed.  She is an award winning artist and signature member of AWS, NWS, SDWS,AWA and many more.

Pebeo saves the white areas.

Shysart palette is one of her favorites.

3 primary colors are encouraged to mix on the paper.
