We welcomed everyone to the 11th Annual Central Florida Watercolor Society Member In House Show and Holiday party, in the Germaine Marvel building, at the Art & History Museums – Maitland.

Members signed in and those with paintings had them numbered and displayed for the voting. Also, one free raffle ticket was given to each member. Mini paintings were displayed and as we ate our meal those who brought one took one out of a small box.

After the business was taken care of, we passed out ballots for the people’s choice voting and the meal was begun. There were tables filled with amazing appetizers, food, desserts, and drinks. It was all so delicious!

This was Marge Reed’s first Christmas party as hospitality
and she proved to be a pro. She even designed and made all of the precious centerpieces. Sharon Stitely, our past hospitality chair, was with Marge each step of the way. They worked like a fine tuned machine. What a blessing it is when a chair transition spot moves fluidly from past to present. Thank you ladies.

Was so happy that Tom Jones brought Michele Montes, artist-representative with Dixon-Ticonderoga, to the party so that we could meet her. We
hope to develop a working relationship with the company. She was very informative and a lovely lady. Thanks Tom and Bonnie for inviting her.

David Williams was in good form performing MC raffle duties and kept Santa (Michel Oliver) and Margaret Wheaton hopping as they passed out prizes for everyone. Thank you.

At the first meeting after the New Year, January 8th, we will have our own Nancy McDonald doing a demo. This is sure to be a fascinating presentation as she is an active and fun teacher.

At the January meeting we will pass around a sheet for members to sign if they are interested in doing a paid demo during the 2017-2018 season at one of our regular first Sunday meetings.

Thanks also to everyone who helped with the Hidden Gem exhibit and reception, especially Rita Watts and Jerry Snyder.

Our last workshop of the season is in February with Jaimie Cordero. Reserve your spot via our website or contact our registrar, Faye Tambrino by email directly.

Make plans to be at our opening reception and awards for the CFWS annual juried member show, in Winter Garden at the SOBO Gallery, on February 2, 2017.

As the meal was winding down, we began the raffle for donations from Art Systems, Princeton Artist Brush Co., Tom Jones, DK Art Supply & Custom Framing, Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff, Dana Daydodge, Marilyn Hausy, Jackii Molsick, Terri Chin and the estate of Tom Knight. We had the one and only SANTA (Michel Olivier) help to hand out the prizes! Dave Williams did the raffle calls in a most entertaining way! What great fun we had and we laughed until we cried!

Finally the people’s choice winners were announced:

First Place: Ruby Schwarzschild

Second Place: Chauncey Nelson

Third Place: Susan Grogan

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS! It was a beautiful art show with talent showing in all the paintings! Everyone loved being surrounded by such wonderful work.
