The president, Mary Dall, welcomed the guests and new members. During the short business meeting she reminded the members that the board was hard at work putting together the 2017-18 season. She asked for members to consider a board position or to volunteer as needed for one time assistance with particular needs such as hospitality help and set up help.
Please look over the three positions available, VP, workshop chair and juried show chair. As each steps down they are willing and able to provide information and guidance to the new chair to make the transition an easy one. If you are interested but would like to come to a board meeting to get better acquainted, we meet once a month, third Thursday at 10:00 at Seminole Co. Library, first floor
There are three board positions available:
VP-the VP sets the demo calendar, orchestrates the holiday party and assists the president as needed, should consider stepping up to the president slot. (Much of the preliminary work is done. A guideline is prepared.)
Juried Show-finds the venue, co-ordinates with artist(s), assimilates information and plans the show. We are set up for 2017-18 already. Then, the new chair sets up for the next season and for a subsequent season for the next chair. (Much of the preliminary work is done. A guideline is prepared.)
Workshops-contracts the artist for our one or two workshop(s) a season. Sets-up for workshops. Our present workshop chair has also been setting up for monthly demos also. We hope to have volunteers assist with this on a one time a season basis.
We need two volunteers each month to help get the TV and equipment from storage. Terri or I will meet the helpers at the storage place with the key and assist the volunteers with getting and returning the equipment.
The board is also presently working on a set of policy and procedures so that the workings of the club run even more smoothly.
The president then thanked Leslie Macauley for taking notes at the last board meeting when Ann Hague was injured. Mary held up the Orlando Arts magazine and showed the artist page that featured Dana Daydodge congratulating her and thanking our publicity chair, Judith Kaye, who worked hard to secure this space for a CFWS artist.
Terri Chin got up and gave information on the summer hanging at Bloomingdale’s at Millenia Mall. More info will be on our website and newsletter.
Marcela Moglia spoke next and told about the plein air event on March 18 at SOBO and gave information on other plein air venues.
Mary thanked Krys Petit for her work with CFWS facebook page.
Members were reminded that SOBO pickup is April 1, 2016 (3:00-4:30) Any problem with pickup, contact email Mary Dall or Nancy Larkin.
Tom Jones is having a very special workshop at the Dixon-Ticonderoga headquarters. It is limited to the first 16 sign ups and you need to contact Tom at to be part of this event. Lunch and a museum tour is included.
Mary announced that we lost one of our Charter Members, Robert Woodring, who passed away on Wednesday, March 8th. Information is in the newsletter.
Terri Chin introduced Caryn Dahm who presented a wonderful watercolor demo and talk.
Hospitality chair, Marge Reed, served refreshments at a break and then Caryn continued her presentation.
Special thanks to Glen Ward who helped us get the equipment from storage and to Ted Mammon who assisted with set-up and take down on site.
