On April 13 we had a group of plein air artists meet in the parking lot at Leu Gardens for a fun and creative day. Sandi B. Thouraya Z. Lindsay, Leslie, Diana E. and Terri C. spread out in different areas of the grounds to find just the perfect spot to paint.

Terri C. sat in the butterfly garden and painted 3 air plants hanging in the small oak.

Thouraya Z. painted a lovely garden path.

Lindsay, a new artist, painted colorful flowers along side some greenery.

We had the pleasure of meeting a new plein air artist, named Lindsay, who we hope will join our society. She loved painting with us and enjoying the spring flowers which were colorful and in abundance throughout the gardens.

We had lunch under the shady oaks and shared tips and techniques of watercolor painting.  Such as the very useful website called Handprint, which is a comprehensive resource for watercolor painters and lists hundreds of colors by their ingredients. In the Sue Archer workshop, she taught us about the pigment codes on watercolor tubes. Instead of buying colors by their marketing name, you can save money by reading the label and pigment info.
