Plein Air Happenings
CFWS hosts a plein air session month. Members and their guests are welcome to attend. We schedule the location and obtain any permissions necessary. Restroom facilities are a priority. We traditionally begin painting at 10 a.m. and end no later than 4 p.m. You are responsible for any admission or parking fees if required, artist materials and refreshment.
CFWS members can volunteer to host a plein air event on the third Saturday of each Plein Air Month. Please consider hosting and email the Plein Air Coordinator. She will check the calendar and confirm your request by email.
2026-27 Plein Air Schedule
Reminder for Plein Air events: participants may wish to bring a light snack/lunch and drink, sunscreen, insect spray and a hat. Participants should consider bringing a light pack of supplies since some locations are at a distance from the parking area.

(Use the Pedestrian Entrance, parking is available across the street by the open field or the church parking lot, if there is room. There are only mulch paths, and there are several benches along the paths. Please use care in crossing, there is heavy traffic on Hempel Ave.)

Cherry Down Park Beach

Limited parking area. Please consider carpooling due to the distance.
This is a neighborhood beach, there are no concessions nearby. There are plenty of restaurants along Astronaut Way, including Publix, and a small Thai restaurant Thai Thai III. There are wooden walkways with tables and some shade, also wooden overpasses with steps to the beach.
The beach meeting point is by the tall coast guard chair, or members can choose to stay by the seating areas with some shade. Bring plenty of drinking water, it is important to stay hydrated. Also sunscreen, hat, insect spray.
