WELCOME to our 2024-2025 Season of the Central Florida Watercolor Society!

President Julie N. started off our first meeting with a sad announcement. Nancy Larkin, our first CFWS president recently passed. Her sister Sharon brought some of Nancy’s art magazines and supplies to share with our group. How generous and thoughtful. Thank you to Nancy and Sharon, her legacy will live on.

Susan G. discussed 2 upcoming workshops…

  1. Janet Rogers will be holding a workshop on Nov. 14 and 15 from 9 to 4 at the Seminole Library.
  2. Cheryl Fausel will hold a 3 day workshop on February 27th, 28th and March 1 at a site TBD. More informaiton will be coming as details are worked out.

Our Annual Member Show this year will be at the Center for Health & Wellbeing in Winter Park. Entries will be accepted from Dec. 1 to Jan. 15, 2025. The Drop off will be on Feb. 24 and the show opens March 3. The reception will be March 7.

1 – Sept 14 – Saturday 10am to 3pm (next weekend is the FWS Convention in St. Pete) Kraft Azalea Gardens, Winter Park

2 – October 16 – Wednesday 10 am to 3 pm

Restrooms across the street at Gilbert Park. This event is during the annual paint out from Oct 12 to 19. Members may wish to have their papers stamped at the Mt Dora Center for the Arts to be exhibited later in an exhibit of works done during that week anywhere in Mt Dora. Members may wish to participate on any day of that week. Please check their website for addition details.

The park has historic early settler buildings gathered from around Florida. This weekend is the Cracker Christmas event to celebrate the history of Florida’s early settlers. There will be vendors with Christmas items and historical impersonators. This will be an event rich in images to paint and photograph, and maybe do some holiday shopping!
