Watercolor demonstration by Cheryl Fausel:

Her painting was on 140# Arches, cold pressCheryl uses Golden Maple detail brushes that are good and inexpensive. She has no paint preference… whatever works. The swan was already taped and covered to protect it from the blue wash in the background. Make sure you score your Nitto tape when you use it, to control the edges and keep the paint from bleeding under. Also, use a snap cutter to cut the tape.

Take a large wash brush and take the bead and keep coming down. Angle it with a light touch. Cobalt, Thalo, opera mix.

A Ranger heated craft gun is a good tool to dry the layers. It’s quiet, doesn’t blow paint around, the heat dries it.

The background got a second coat of Thalo blue.
Next was the reflection under the swan, masked off as well.
Lastly, Cheryl went on to demonstrate how to do a Bokeh effect.
Using the tape and lifting the paint with the magic eraser and a circle tool.
The finished painting was proudly displayed!

Thank you Cheryl!
