The Central Florida Watercolor Society is sad to learn that our founder and charter member Ken Austin, NWS has passed.
Ken founded the society 27 years ago. We have his original letter in our CFWS presidential files. Our society was an outgrowth of the “Aquamedia Society” and it was first organized in 1998.
He was the son of Betty Austin, a noted portraitist. He was an architect by profession, city planner and had been painting watercolor since 1975. He was a city of Orlando planner for years and there is a plaque in the Mennello Museum dedicated to him. He taught over a decade and his paintings were in private and corporate collections.

He was highly involved in the development of our society and came to many board meetings. His fun loving personality and encouragement will be sorely missed.
One of his final wishes was for people to consider a donation to our society. Your donation can be made here: Donate in Memory of Ken Austin.
Thank you for all the teaching, encouragement and fun memories Ken.

Two samples of Ken’s style. He loved color and told us never to be afraid to use it. These photos are from a workshop, one of many he taught over the years.
