"House of the Vettii"
Watercolor, 2020

The House of the Vettii was a Roman house (domus) owned by Aulus Vettius Conviva and Aulus Vettius Restitutus, former slaves/freedmen (liberti) who rose to prominence and wealth. The size of the house is about 1,100 square meters and this view is through the atrium to the peristyle, (an open courtyard surrounded by Doric columns). Its rich, colorful frescos were preserved by the Vesuvius eruption.
